OffShoring

I have kept away from this controvertial topic as I feel that this does sometimes hurt a lot of people. But it also helps a lot of people. Americans & Europeans now feel the pinch and people in countries like India, China and other eastern european countries reap some benefits.

Scoble started it with two posts today.

Sriram replies to one to the posts.

One of the things most people are not aware of is that not everyone in India is an illitrate person coding for peanuts. We have our share of inefficient programmers, as anywhere else. But we also have some very good ones. Most of us here, do try to do a very good job of it and a lot of us are in it more for the love of computers rather than the money (Software & IT is one of the best paying jobs).

India is no more the cheapest place to get software written. China and the East European nations give us a close run for the money. The biggest advantage India has is the legacy of English and the respect for education that is an inbuilt part of the indian mentality.

I just wanted to put my thoughts in one place and this is it...:-)

The question to ask is - what will the companies that outsource, do with the cost savings? Will they lessen the Insurance or Health Care premiums for consumers? Or similar..

Most probably pay a bigger bonus to their CEOs..:-)

Keep up the great blog. Also, do review a book of mine due for publication in April and link to it as appropriate
