I am thinking of writing a personal portfolio manager application and so started searching for some kind of a stock quote service. I am unable to find any free web service or programmer friendly stock quote service for the indian stock market. Anyone have come across a decent one? I am ok with a delayed quote.
Or do I have to resort to screen scraping?? :-(

Check out Yahoo Finance's CSV feed.
it covers lots of countries and you could easily parse the CSV into XML.
THe only issue is it isn't quite that legal for "commercial use".

www.capitalmarket.com
www.nse.com(cannot scrap....prices not in text)
www.bse.com(cannot scrap....prices not in text)
www.hdfcsec.com
None of the above sites give the live prices without login.
I want some site which can give me live prices on a single page(preferably).

It is not legal to have live feeds on your site... all major sites have stock feeds delayed by atleast 15 mins.... for your personal use you can use the live feed but you cannot publish the same on your site live. that is against the rules stipulated by the BSE...
The pricing for these packages is as follows.
SENSEX: - US$5000 (INR2,20,000)
SENSEX + 5 Indices: - US$7500 (INR3,30,000)
All Indices: - US$10000 (INR 4,40,000)
This will give you some food for thought...
please check http://www.bseindia.com/about/faq.htm
for more details.
