Over the weekend I installed Win7 on Virtual PC (VPC). I actually wanted to install it as a secondary OS, but my home machine had a failed PSU. So I installed into into a safe VPC.
The initial install was not too different. A flashy opening screen and a pretty fast install happened. I did not time it, but I don’t think the install itself was a lot faster than Vistas. Maybe a little but not drastically.
A reboot or so later, the system was ready.
The startup has this new flashy animated logo. But the speed of the boot was really amazing, especially on a VPC. If they can maintain the boot speed or make it better at RTM it would be a great thing.
And they have some very good wallpapers :).
